NutCracker PRO isn't an ordinary electric impact wrench. Porsche street-legal centerlocks are made from aluminium and are not designed to be subjected to harmful impacts. PRO takes a fundamentally different approach: thanks to its planetary gearbox it delivers high torque smoothly, continuously and with controlled accuracy.
Torque is multiplied mechanically — not through hammering.
At the heart of NutCracker PRO is a 36V brushless electric motor. Rather than driving the centerlock through repeated impacts, the motor feeds a planetary gear system that mechanically multiplies torque.
The principle is similar to NutCracker HD: rotational speed is traded for substantially higher torque at the output. The result is a smooth and continuous application of force instead of the rapid shock loads produced by an impact wrench.
Preset torque is the target. Motor current is the control input.
During tightening, NutCracker PRO continuously monitors the electrical current drawn by the motor. The control system uses the calibrated relationship between motor current and torque output to manage the tightening process and stop the drive automatically at the preset torque target.
The system therefore does not rely on a fixed running time or an impact mechanism. Torque is applied continuously through the planetary drivetrain while the electronic control system responds to motor load throughout the tightening cycle.
Preset and ready. Just follow the sequence.
NutCracker PRO arrives preset for Porsche centerlock use. There is no torque setup or programming required before you start. Fit the tool, press the trigger and PRO is ready to work.
Fit PRO to the centerlock socket.
No settings need to be entered before use. Position the reaction arm correctly, fit PRO to the centerlock and pull the trigger.
Hold the trigger. PRO stops automatically.
PRO applies torque smoothly through the planetary drivetrain and automatically stops when the preset 600 Nm / 443 ft-lb tightening target is reached. Make sure to hold the trigger all throughout the sequence until the reaction-arm load is released.
Choose how you want to control the 90° movement.
The centerlock must now be loosened by approximately one quarter turn. There are two ways to do this.
Part of the movement happens before the centerlock turns.
When loosening begins, the reaction arm first moves across the available space between the wheel spokes until it reaches its support point. Only then does the centerlock itself begin to rotate.
A 130° limit is useful for the quarter-turn step, but the same limit also remains active when you later want to remove the centerlock completely. The tool will stop after each programmed movement, so you must either press the trigger repeatedly or change the setting back and forth.
For that reason, our preferred workflow is to judge the 90° quarter turn visually and leave the loosening movement unrestricted for normal wheel changes.
Hold the trigger again.
PRO repeats the tightening process and automatically stops at the preset 600 Nm / 443 ft-lb.
After tightening, the programmed retraction movement slightly reverses the drive to release residual load from the reaction arm and make the tool easier to remove. Make sure to hold the trigger all throughout the sequence. Only then you will see a PASS message displayed.
Check the display and remove the tool.
After tightening, PRO shows the achieved tightening value on the display along with a message "PASS". Remove the tool and the tightening sequence is complete.
600 Nm / 443 ft-lb and the 90° loosening procedure shown here relate to Porsche centerlock applications. Always follow the tightening procedure and specifications prescribed for your specific vehicle.
Built around your wheel.
High centerlock torque creates an equally high reaction force. NutCracker PRO manages that force through a dedicated adjustable reaction arm, allowing the tool to operate without relying on someone holding the brake pedal.
Precision-machined from aircraft-grade 7075 aluminium, the arm can be positioned to suit different wheel geometries. A polyurethane-coated contact surface provides a softer and more compliant interface with the wheel spoke than harder materials such as Delrin.

The reaction arm braces the tool against the wheel, providing a stable reaction point while torque is applied to the centerlock.
